Qarun Reserve is located in the northwestern part of the Daba Valley depression.
It is considered one of the oldest natural lakes in the world and is a remnant of the ancient Lake Moeris.
Its area is approximately 55,000 feddans, with a depth ranging from 5 to 12 meters, and the water surface level is at 45 meters.
The salinity level ranges between 32 and 35 grams per liter.
