Wadi Degla Reserve

Wadi Degla in Cairo Governorate is a protected natural reserve according to Prime Minister’s Decision No. 47 of 1999, amended by Decision No. 3057 of 1999, with a total area of approximately 60 square kilometers.

  • Wadi Degla is located east of Maadi neighborhood in the Eastern Desert of Cairo Governorate. It is considered one of the important valleys extending from east to west, with a length of about 30 km.
  • It passes through limestone rocks that were deposited in a marine environment in the Eastern Desert around 60 million years ago, making it rich in fossils.
